Movie: Vandhan Vendraan
Cast: Jiiva, Taapsee, Nandha, Santhanam
R. Kannan’s directorial ventures have been quite commendable with back-to-back hits “Jayam Kondaan” and “Kanden Kadhalai”. And so it is with his latest movie, “Vandhan Vendran”.
The film revolves around Arjun (Jiiva) setting foot in Mumbai in search of a notorious don named Ramanna (Nandha). Arjun gets acquainted with him and also narrates his love story with Anjana (Tapasee) to him. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Anjana’s father is killed in a shoot-out and Ramana is the reason behind it. Anjana now tells Arjun that she will marry him only if he convinces Ramana to surrender to police. The story gets its own twist and things get complicated. Watch it on the big screen to know what happens.
The scene-stealer is Nandha, who plays the baddie. Thaman’s songs especially Kanchana Mala… and Anjana… Anjana… are foot-tapping. Santhanam tickles the funny bones as a “Panipooriwala” and his one-liners. Dialogue by Pattukkottai Prabhakar is well written and adds to the movie’s strengths.“Vandhan Vendran” is an action story with love and at the same time giving enough importance to comedy. The major highlight of the film is its picturesque location.
Bottomline: It is a good movie with all those basic ingredients of a wholesome entertainer. It is a technically rich film.
