With The Return of Ravana, the lives of Vikram, Amanjit, Rasita and Deepika have taken a sharp turn. The tale continues with Vikram, Amanjit and Rasita being accused of murdering actor Sunita Ashok.
Slow yet gripping
They’re on the run much like the exiled heroes of the Ramayana. And the evil force guiding the entire battle is none other than Ravindra, who is still in the process of acquiring the heart stones of the queens who fled during an important ritual.
The past lives are depicted in a neat fashion, easy for the reader to understand the numerous lives the characters have lived. The story is comparatively slow paced compared to the earlier two books and seems a little far fetched. The concept of demons and asuras and a battle with arrows and astras seems a little irrelevant to the present. Nevertheless the story is gripping because of the high level drama.
Emotions are depicted with clarity and much thought has been given to every character. The reader is left wondering what will happen in book 4, “King of Lanka.” Only after reading that can one breathe a sigh of relief.
