The fingers that hold the pen, should be writing on a notebook, in a classroom. The right thing in the wrong place. These kids are the quintessence of the real world out there .Little do they know that child welfare is still a distant reality.
At first look I remembered Taare Jameen Par’s subtitle “EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL” Our Govt spends crores onour roads; cant they think about poor children Definitely we are missing many Edison, Abdulkalam…etc,So be aware of our missing stars and raise ur hands for them, dont look for others be the solo to help.
Crores of money for Games !!!!!!
Some percentage of that would satisfy these peoples’ basic needs. !!!
“United we stand on the heaps of garbage, digging into anything that would make a penny. Brushing away the foul smell and the bunch of flies, hardly feeling the sting of the mosquitoes we still find color in our solitude. Walking as far as our small legs can carry, paying the price for no mistake of ours. We stand hand in hand waiting for a dawn to come when we too can learn to read and write. For once, turn back and look at us you would see the pain in our eyes. HELP US.”
Childhood is the primary period of learning. The roots of a tree will have to be strong enough for the tree to be able to withstand fierce storms.Similarly,it is the period of childhood that gives a shape to our lives,a form to our thoughts and a base to our expressions. This picture potrays child labour,a major obstacle in the lives of many children who have been jailed in the prison of poverty.Rag-pickers,bonded labourers,road-side beggars, how much more of this do we have to witness? Is this one of the consequences of a failing economy or simply an undefined social evil?Whatever it is,the battle against child labour can succeed only when the spreading awareness gives way to some action.
THE ONLY THING THAT COMES TO OUR MIND WHEN WE LOOK AT THIS PICTURE IS…POVERTY AND THE SORROWFUL STATE OUR NATION IS IN.THE PICTURE CLEARLY TELLS US THE CHILDREN’S NEED ,OF LEARNING TO READ AND WRITE,WHICH HAS NOT BEEN PROVIDED TO THEM.I’VE ALWAYS FELT THAT SOMETHING HAS TO DONE ABOUT THESE ISSUES.BUT,I HAVE LEARNT THAT FEELING ABOUT IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE.WE HAVE TO PUT OUR HANDS TOGETHER ANDWORK FOR IT.[ WE ARE THE ‘DEVELOPING COUNTRY’…..ARE WE REALLY SEEING THE GROWTH????]
A kid has had a prized catch,an old pen(God knows if its working!)in the sea of decaying dirt. Two more, intrigued by this amazing discovery, watch fascinated. Here are the ‘pillars of tomorrow’s India’ rummaging rubbish, while others their age are toying with laptops and playstations. All the talk about India becoming a global superpower by 2020, seems so ridiculous, unless you magicked these tiny, tattered rag pickers into millionaires.Well if that’s not going to happen, then we must atleast know that ‘OUR BACKYARD IS BURNING’, while we are still cozy in our beds.
Paper Paper everywhere but not a piece to write
Rags to Riches? No, I want to be able to spell my name first!
The school shown in picture looks to be rich, in terms of fees, uniform with tie and shoes, etc.,. If they have some concern for the poor girl, they could easily fund her studies in the same school. A girl once educated, she can educate the future generation.
Another beauty in irony is that both the girl and the school kids lift loads which is too much for their childhood. Todays children either carry loads of book or gravels instead of toys, which is to be their tools. Though the pic reveals an age old gender discrimination also it lights on the present condition of school kids. Actually, i believe each kid in the pic feel the same pain of burden but in different context. As young we also passed through the same state, we should work together for a CHANGE. Being the Next generation its our duty unwritten in books.
As a student of GDSJ, I would say that it is contrdictory to see both children. The teachers in the school know very well that it is against the law; why couldn’t they inform this to some rehabilitation centre so that this girl may be educated if not in their school, in some other school. Where is the solidarity to bring India as a developed country??? Think about Solidarity for the developement of our country. You can buy a player for crores and why can’t we buy a child from thousands? we can eradicate poverty if we all think of the good of the humanity and if we live in solidarity.
