A good collection of classic covers like Tracy Chapman’s “All That You Have Is Your Soul”, Merle Haggard’s “Kern River” and some originals like “Gold”, which features Dolly Parton lending beautiful harmony. So the album is plain, straight talking, with minimalist tasteful musical arrangements and has the best of both worlds; her interpretative skill of other people’s songs and a good dose of her own compositions. At 61, Emmylou makes her mark as one of the best voices in the county scene. My Favourite: “All That You Have Is Your Soul”, “Hunger only for a taste of justice”, “Hunger only for a world of truth”, “Cause all that you have is your soul”.
