Technically, a good attempt

BIG SCREEN

Movie: Roadside Romeo

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor

Roadside Romeo is a rich-rag-happy ending tale of Romeo (a dog) who finds a way to live in the gutter and in the process finds love in the form of Laila and wins her over the obstacle called Charlie anna. With Road side Romeo Yashraj has found a way to make money out of their poor scripts. Remove the dogs and make actors play the roles they voiced; then Roadside Romeo will end being a damp squib movie. One wonders if Yashraj knows anything else than DDLJ, proving yet again Chak de! India was a flash out of the pan.

All said, yet this being an animation film all the clichés and nostalgic moments which we all have gotten bored of doesn’t look that bad. Look for the scene that comes after Romeo does a Raj of DDLJ by lending his hand from train; intelligent script writing.  But is there anything original in this script? The director answers that too with the game the dogs play at night to wake the humans- clever again. These interesting moments though very good are very few and far between. Even scripting wise in the first half, the director seems to be in a hurry to say everything, making us feel distant from what is happening on the screen.

Technically Roadside Romeo is a good attempt by Indian standards but can never be called a revolutionary. The voice sync is not that great especially for Laila. Kareena fails to bring life to the wonderful body language created for Laila. Of all the actors Javed Jaffery stands out which his marvelous command over the character. One can’t stop smiling at the way he pronounces Row-meow (Romeo).

On the whole a time pass movie not for the kids but only for the teen.

ROMEO IN SEARCH OF JULIET

Is this Bollywood’s biggest leap into animation? Well, seems like a mammoth yes. so, are we following the shadows of Hollywood filmmakers who are coming up with critically acclaimed animated feature films in the likes of ratatouille, Horton hears a who, shrek series and lots to follow.

SYNOPSIS:-

Romeo( Saif) is our protagonist in the film. He had the works-mansion to live in, the chicks to party with and the cars to be driven around in. Until one day, the family he was the favorite pet of, decides to move and leave him back, abandoned on the mean streets of Mumbai where he bumps into four strays, who scare the daylights out of him. But soon, he finds a place for himself in their hearts and also manages to find his new love in his life, the ravishing laila (Kareena) .but on the other hand He becomes a prey to the notorious Don, Charlie Anna( Javed jaffery). The story revolves around how Romeo manages to save his skin from Charlie Anna and succeeds romantically.

ATTRACTION:-

Definitely was a treat for an entire family this diwali. Best attractive factor was being a product straight from Walt Disney’s shelf made it more special and animation which definitely was an

Overwhelming experience. if we keep aside the animation part movie is definitely in the likes of a typical Bollywood movie with songs, romance, comedy, action and all that you need.. Humor is something which one can look out in abundance in this flick from yashraj movies.watchout for the all-time Javed jaffery with his slapstick comedy. So, gear up for a barking time.

Roadside Romeo, India’s first 3-D movie, produced by Yash Raj Films and Walt Disney Pictures has finally released. It’s a special movie as it shows the power of Indian animation which was not exploited properly in the past. Without wasting time, let’s review Roadside Romeo.

Roadside Romeo is your regular Bollywood movie with all the masala and songs combined with superb animation. Double thumbs up to Jugal Hansraj, director of the movie, for awesome direction and creativity. Story is about a rich pet dog called Romeo (Saif Ali Khan), who finds himself on the cruel Mumbai streets when his family shifts to another country.

There he meets his new friends and his love, Laila, played by Kareena Kapoor, and also the bad dog of the movie, Charlie Anna (Javed Jaffrey). Roadside Romeo is your typical “Hero loves heroine but has to fight the villain to get her” movie.
Good points about the movie

Good Credits
1. Animation – It would be wrong to compare the animation to that of complex animations by Pixar as this is a first big project for Bollywood. Nevertheless, I was impressed with the details given to each character.
2. Charlie Anna – The bad dog of the movie is the most likable character of the movie. The credit should be given to Javed Jaffrey for his mind blowing voice over

Bad Points

1. Voice over by Saif Ali Khan – He was definitely not a right choice for the voice of Romeo. Ending each dialogue with “Guys” can be really irritating. Please don’t try to be cool using such words. You look like a wannabe.
2. South Indian accent of Charlie Anna – Javed did a good job playing the character but his dialogues can be difficult to comprehend for the kids. Sometimes, it was really difficult to understand what he was saying. More clarity could have done wonders.

Verdict – If Jugal made this movie for the kids then he clearly missed the shot. It doesn’t have the excitement that an animation movie should have in order to capture the attention of the kids.
