Bid good-bye to that extra pound of flesh andalso dance away your relationship problems, family problems and exam tension. And to help you do just that, Swingers is conducting the “Groove N Summer” 15-day dance workshop for kids, teens and adults starting today at their T. Nagar, Kilpauk, Adyar, Vadapalani and Velachery branches.  At the end of the workshop you may find yourself dancing Not-cracker ballet, Shy less theatre, Street Jazz, Hip Hop, Sizzling Salsa, Juggling Jiving or the L.A.X Latin on stage.
Perform on stage
Yes, the workshop concludes with an opportunity to perform on stage at their extravagant annual show. Prasanna believes that the actual certification takes place on stage and that experience sees the students evolve, leaving them and their parents with a memory that will make them look back cheerfully at the summer gone by. But is it possible to learn not just one but three to four styles in 15 days and perform on stage? “Yes!” comes the confident reply from Prasanna, Artistic Director, The Swingers. Prasanna’s confidence is backed by the experience of getting the workshop students up on stage for five consecutive years.
Good fun
During the course of five years, Swingers has developed a neutralised form of choreography that puts everyone involved in a win-win situation. The instructors find it easier to train the students, the students find it easy to master the moves and the audience does not find it a boring show put up by a bunch of amateurs. And Prasanna seems to have got it right when he says, “After all the audience is only looking for some good entertainment.” If the dancer in you has been kicked awake during the workshop and you still want more, then go for their Young People Programme, the Professional Study or the Non-Professional Study that runs up to two years. At the end of the course you will be a certified dancer with intensive training in various styles of dance. This transition from a crash course enthusiast to an instructor took place for Vinod when he joined the Swingers’ summer workshop in Bangalore a couple of years back.
Open to all
This workshop is for all in every sense of the word. Prasanna cites instances when there have been physically and mentally challenged students taking part in the workshop and the stage show as well. Vinod tells us about an enthusiastic couple in their fifties who are regulars at the Swingers workshops. They apparently even celebrate the day they joined Swingers by distributing chocolates. Such is the happiness that Prasanna wishes to spread through his *Groove N Summer’ workshop. “It should be an experience to remember,” he feels.See below for details
