Environment workshop

@ National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore

A one-day workshop, conducted by Prof. John Altringham and Dr Anita Glover, University of Leeds, UK, will provide an overview of many aspects of the biology and conservation of bats, and introduce students to a variety of field and lab-based techniques to study bat ecology and behaviour including methods to identify bats from echolocation calls, and the use of bat detectors in facilitating field studies.

Application details: Students working in the fields of ecology, evolution and conservation are invited to apply for participation in this workshop.

Tree of Life Festival

Prakriti Foundation’s Tree of Life Festival aims to bring a greater awareness of the environment that nurtures and sustains us, to school children and the larger community. It involves storytelling sessions and spinning workshops in schools, with performances, nature walks, sand sculpting competitions, and art in various forms. This year being the centenary year of Gandhijis Hind Swaraj a play, “Unbound”, based on the Hind Swaraj will be hosted at different colleges in Chennai as well as a show for the general public. There will also be a Tree Walk in association with Nizhal at The Birla Planetarium and Kalakshetra, and a sand sculpting competition at Elliots Beach.
