Long lost is a thriller that anyone with a sense of adventure and love for mystery will enjoy. Myron Bolitar gets a call from a Terese Collins, his ex girl friend from whom he had not heard from for in ten years. Terese was in Paris because Rick Collins, her ex husband persuaded her to come and meet him. The urgency and tension in Rick Collins voice drew Terese to Paris, and now he is missing! Terese wants Myron to fly to Paris to help her find Rick Collins. Myron arrives at Paris and trouble is waiting for him. Rick Collins is murdered which makes Myron and Terese obvious suspects! Terese then explains the reason for her disappearing to Myron.

Ups and downs

What is the mystery behind this Murder? What is that which made Terese disappear? Why did her ex husband have to call her before dying? All this, with various other unexpected twists and turn is what Long Lost is all about. Terrorists, international cults, a murder, an ex girlfriend …At some point you are left feeling hazy and wonder where exactly did the story start. Without a lot of deviations and some more consistency the book could have been more enjoyable. The subtle humour that is used to draw the reader here and there and the friendship between Win and Myron are definitely a major plus. A noteworthy thing about the book is that it’s a completely easy and entertaining read! Once you start reading , you don’t want to put it down. The bottom-line is that to really enjoy this book you should be a fan of Myron and his crew. Otherwise this book might appear like a dull and average thriller as you cannot relate to the characters. So I wouldn’t really say this book is a ‘must read’ for everyone. It is definitely not Harlan’s best. However this book definitely makes a fun holiday read!
